VitaC | Tradition and Monumentality: Large-Scale Housing for Modern London

VitaC | Tradition and Monumentality: Large-Scale Housing for Modern London — Jaime Silva Supervised by Prof. Ana Tostões

Using the paradigmatic examples of the Claredale Street scheme (1954-1959, London, Denys Lasdun) and the Brunswick (1960-1974, London; Patrick Hodgkinson) it will be provided an in-depth analysis of the two moments that characterized the fusion between old and new in London’s postwar modern mass housing. In addition to the design analysis, it will be also discussed the posterior role of these schemes as legacies disguised as waste.

VitaC is a monthly seminar series that aims to explore and highlight the latest research initiatives at CiTUA. The series aims to provide a dynamic platform for researchers to present their work, engage in diverse debates and promote innovation through collaboration.

The event takes place at the V1.01 (FUNDEC) from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM and can also be followed  via zoom.
