In response to growing public opposition, Olympic Agenda 2020 aimed to make the Games more sustainable — particularly in terms of urban planning. Paris 2024 and Milan-Cortina 2026 were the first editions to implement this new approach. Despite some innovations, field visits and interviews revealed that politics, weak governance and planning issues often stood in the way. So how can the Games be made more sustainable for our cities?
