Docomomo Portugal and the Department of Architecture of the University of Coimbra announce the 1st Docomomo Portugal Congress, entitled Education, Reuse and Transformation of Modern Architecture and the City, which will take place at the Teatro Académico de Gil Vicente and the José Falcão Secondary School, on 20–21 October 2025.

The programme features lectures by leading national and international architects — Gonçalo Byrne; Alexandre Alves Costa and Sérgio Fernandez; João Mendes Ribeiro and Gonçalo Canto Moniz; Franz Graf and Giulia Marino — as well as parallel thematic sessions, guided tours, and film screenings.

The congress aims to foster a space for debate and knowledge exchange around Portuguese modern heritage, focusing on its transformation and rehabilitation. It will be an opportunity to share research and promote interdisciplinary dialogue among architects, historians, designers, researchers, and the general public.
