Miguel Reis Vasco will present his research entitled “Intersections between Architecture and Musical Composition in the Early Modern Period”, supervised by Prof. João Vieira Caldas, Prof. Braxton Boren (American University), and Prof. Francisco Teixeira Bastos.
The project explores the relationship between religious architecture and polyphonic musical composition in the Early Modern Period, seeking to understand how the architectural and acoustic characteristics of these spaces influenced musical practice and composition, and vice versa. The research focuses on four case studies, to which acoustic testing will be associated, where possible, in order to further investigate this relationship.
