VitaC | Temporariness as a structural condition. The portuguese ‘Bairros Autoproduzidos’ as ‘limit’ spaces of ‘Permanent Temporariness’

Enzo Carannante Supervised by Prof. Massimo Perriccioli & Prof. Patricia Lourenço

The presentation introduces temporariness as a structural condition of contemporary dwelling, examined through the lenses of migration and displacement. The contribution investigates the Bairros Autoproduzidos of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area as emblematic spaces of “Permanent Temporariness” and explores the concept of the “limit” as a critical and methodological device for rethinking the role of architecture in contexts of migration and displacement.
